Benefits of UFE Membership

Members of United Faculty of Eastern are part of an association that helps level the field when dealing with administrators on tough or uncomfortable issues. UFE is our voice to help ensure increased salaries, equitable job assignments, fair contracts, and workplace democracy. When faculty members transform individual views into the unified body of UFE, we are no longer easily ignored. 

• UFE provides our members with expertise and experienced support for negotiations for the CBA, MOUs, and grievances.
  
• UFE provides individual faculty with representation in disputed workloads, FAPs, promotions, and workplace concerns as well as investigations for alleged violations of EWU policy.
• Members benefit from legal representation to defend academic freedom and costs for job-related actions, plus $1m in professional liability insurance protection. 
  
• Research experts offer assistance with budget analyses that often debunk administrative funding excuses. 
  
• Professional staff in United Faculty of Washington State and its national peer groups, the National Education Association (NEA) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) - Higher Education, advocate for increased education funding and serve as a watchdog and advocate for changes in education policy.
  

Your dues are split between supporting the UFE, and the NEA and the local Washington Education Association (WEA), and the AFT and AFT Washington. The NEA and the AFT offer a host of member benefits, from teaching and learning resources to discounts on insurance and shopping.
