Member Meeting June 12th at 1pm via Zoom

Please attend our UFE members meeting via Zoom on Thursday June 12, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. (The zoom link was sent to your personal email.) We will be making announcements and accepting nominations for UFE officer elections.

The following positions will be contested:

  • Secretary
  • VP for Labor-Management Relations 
  • VP for Affiliate Relations and Political Education
  • 3 At-Large Positions, 1 of which is reserved for special faculty.

The UFE will accept nominations for these positions during the membership meeting, or via an email to Michael Conlin at zutalors111@gmail.com until Thursday June 12 at 5.00 pm.

Elections will be held electronically from Thursday June 12 at 5:00pm until Wednesday June 18 at 5:00 pm.

Position Descriptions

The Vice President for Labor-Management Relations shall assist the President and shall act in the absence of the President.

The primary responsibility of the Vice-President for Labor-Management is to provide leadership in negotiations with management with respect to interpretations of the contract.

The Vice-President for Affiliate Relations and Political Education will assist the President in the areas associated with the title of office.

  1. The Vice-President for Affiliate Relations will be the principal contact person in the Union for communications with the American Federation of Teachers, the National Education Association, the Washington Federation of Teachers, the Washington Education Association, the Washington State Labor Council, and the Spokane Labor Council.
  2. The Vice-President will represent the Union in the governance bodies of these organizations.
  3. The Vice-President will be the union’s liaison person with the Legislative Committee of the Faculty Organization, and serve as chair of the Union’s Political Information Committee.

Members at-large (of which one shall hold an appointment of Special Faculty) are members of the Executive Board and serve one-year terms.

The Executive Board shall:

  1. Develop union policies and objectives;
  2. Establish guidelines and hear continuing reports on bargaining;
  3. Adopt the annual budget;
  4. Approve or ratify the establishment of committees not established in the Bylaws;
  5. Adopt rules and agenda for its meetings;Authorize bargaining on additions to, deletions of, or revisions to language in previously negotiated Collective Bargaining Agreements [e.g., approve Memoranda of Understanding] and;
  6. Enact such other measures as may be necessary to achieve the goals and objectives of the Union which are not in conflict with this Constitution and Bylaws.
